Artist's Statement about this work: The Scotch Thistle grows prolifically in the abandoned lot near my home. It towers over all the other weeds demanding respect. The brilliant pink flowers and spiky stems seem to taunt me to come close and touch them.

Artist's Statement about this work: I loved the colors presenting themselves in this hilly southern Utah grassy area set against the distant mountains. There was quite a bit of plant activity on this hill, so I tried to represent that busyness with the many little dots representing the small wildflowers mixed in with the grasses.

Artist's Statement about this work: This is a very close-up study of a tiny flower done as a result of a plein air trip to the Temple Quarry trailhead up Little Cottonwood Canyon. I tried to portray the silhouette effect the dark foliage background gave to this otherwise insignificant and probably overlooked little white flower.
